Buccal fat removal is a minimally invasive procedure designed to sculpt the lower face by reducing the fullness of the cheeks. This results in a more contoured, chiselled appearance, particularly in patients with rounder faces or pronounced buccal fat pads.
A small incision (around 1cm) is made inside the cheek, near the upper molars. The surgeon gently teases out and removes a portion of the buccal fat pad. The incision is then closed with dissolvable sutures. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and usually takes 30–45 minutes.
No. Once removed, the fat pad does not regenerate.
In properly selected patients, the effect is sculpted—not sunken.
No. The procedure produces permanent results.
